Report a Claim

In the event of a claim, promptly report the claim one of the following ways:

  • Contact your insurance agent
  • Contact your local EMC claim office
  • Call our 24-Hour Claim Reporting service at 888-EMC-CALL (888-362-2255)
  • For a home, personal auto, motorcycle or dwelling claim, report your claim online by logging in to Policyholder Access*
  • For a personal auto claim, go to emcins.com from your mobile phone and select Report a Claim (watch how)

The following are general guidelines for auto, property and workers’ compensation claims:

Auto Accident

  • If anyone is injured, immediately render any possible first aid assistance and call emergency services.
  • Report the accident to the police.
  • Cooperate fully with the police, but do not make any admissions about your liability. Do not sign any statements for anyone other than an authorized representative of your insurance company.
  • Exchange names, driver license numbers, addresses and insurance information with the driver(s) of the other vehicle(s).

Record the following information:

  • Date, time and place of accident
  • Name and address of owner of the other vehicle, if different from the driver
  • Names and addresses of passengers and witnesses
  • License plate number of the other vehicle and the witnesses’ vehicle

 

  • Take photos of damage to vehicles and/or property, accident scene and identification (insurance cards, license plates, etc.)
  • Promptly report the claim.

Property Claim

  • If anyone is injured, immediately render any possible first aid assistance and call emergency services.
  • Take appropriate steps to avoid further damage to the property.
  • Promptly report the claim.

Workers’ Compensation Claim

  • Promptly report the claim.
  • Make sure to file OSHA reports within eight hours if the claim involves a fatality occurring at work or hospitalization of three or more employees.
